What most practices don’t know about their weekend
Between Friday 5pm close and Monday 8am open — 63 hours. Not counting Saturday hours if you run them.

Ten minutes. Front desk manager or practice owner. Here’s the checklist:
1. Pull the after-hours call log. Every phone system with call tracking has this — Weave, PatientPop, Solutionreach, or your basic PBX. Filter to inbound calls between Friday 5pm and Monday 8am.
2. Count the total. Note the pattern. Is it clustered around specific times? Late Sunday nights are common for insurance research calls. Saturday afternoons for scheduling.
3. Count voicemails vs. hang-ups. Hang-ups are worse than voicemails — the caller decided your practice wasn’t worth the effort to leave a message.
4. Note any that showed up as booked appointments Monday. These are the ones who came back and re-called. Note the delay from initial call to booking — that’s your recovery window shrinking.
5. Calculate the miss. Assume: 30% of the missed calls are new patients, 40% would have booked if answered live, average first-year value is $2,000. Weekly leak = (missed calls × 0.30 × 0.40 × $2,000).
